Photo competition kicks off to celebrate first anniversary of Cao Lanh Bridge
The Australian Embassy in Vietnam on April 10 launched a photo competition to celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of Cao Lanh Bridge, Australia’s largest single development aid investment in mainland South East Asia, and to highlight the positive impact of the bridge on the Mekong Delta region.
The contest, which lasts from 10 April -10 May 2019, is open to anyone with a creative flair who wants to share their favourite bridge snaps.
The competition winner will receive a Canon EOS 80D camera valued at 25,000,000 VND and the second and third prizes are an iPad 2018, valued at 9,000,000 VND, and a shopping voucher valued at 5,000,000 VND respectively.
The most liked photo, chosen by fans of the Australia in Vietnam Facebook page, will also receive a shopping voucher valued at 5,000,000 VND. Five honorary mentions will each receive a set of IELTS English language books, a kangaroo-designed helmet and a certificate of appreciation. The outcomes of the competition will be announced in the last week of May 2019 on the Australia in Vietnam Facebook page.

The project, to which Australia committed AUD160 million, builds on Australia’s previous investment in the My Thuan Bridge, the first bridge over the Mekong River and the first cable stayed bridge in Vietnam.

Since its opening on 27 May 2018, Cao Lanh Bridge has been helping reduce travel time in the Mekong’s delta, opening up new trade opportunities for Vietnamese agricultural products across Greater Mekong sub-region, promoting private investment, supporting food security and improving the access of local people to vital social and health services.
‘Cao Lanh Bridge is a crucial driver for development for the Mekong Delta region and an enduring symbol of the friendship between Australia and Vietnam,’ said Australian Ambassador HE Mr Craig Chittick. ‘I hope this competition will be an opportunity for all participants to tell their stories about the bridge and show their talent and creativity.’
Contestants can submit up to three photos related to the Cao Lanh Bridge via the competition link: http://bit.ly/ThianhcauCaoLanh. The photos can be of the bridge itself or clearly capture the impact of the bridge has had on the region.
