An officer and two employees in charge of ensuring safety at a level crossing in the central province of Thanh Hoa have been suspended, Dan Tri online newspaper reported.

The investigation agency in Tinh Gia District has ordered the temporary detention of these officers to investigate the accident, which was caused by a collision with a truck. Two persons were killed, and scores were injured.

VNR initially concluded that the accident was caused by barricades on the crossroad of Thanh Hoa Railroad Company put in place by VNR employees as well as was the fault of the truck driver.

They were determined not to comply with the traffic safety regulations before crossing the road, VNR said, adding that its employees did not comply with the work process either.

They allegedly failed to report the train schedule at the station to the concerned staff.

Following the accident, the head and officers of Nui Thanh railway station have been suspended for investigation.

VNR also asked the other managers at Nui Thanh station to review their responsibility and report to VNR for consideration.
