The department’s decision aims to investigate the tragedy and review the procedures and safety of adventure tours at the waterfall.
The RoK tourist, Jang Won Seok, 23, died during an adventure game on the waterfall. He was in a group of 11 foreign tourists, including three Koreans, two Canadians, four Belgians and two Britons. The tour provider - Thu Thach Viet Nam (Viet Challenge) company - said all tourists were trained in safety techniques before the game. The first six tourists crossed the obstacle safely before Jang’s incident. He reportedly used an incorrect technique when jumping into the water, leading to his death. Jang’s body was taken to Ho Chi Minh City on September 22 night.
Previously in February 2016, three English tourists died while taking part in a risky game at the same waterfall.
Datanla Waterfall is located at Prenn Pass which is about five kilometres from Da Lat city, the central highlands province of Lam Dong. The fall is an attractive place for those who enjoy risks and adventures.
