PSNews - A kidney transplant was successfully conducted on January 3rd at Saint Paul Hospital in Hanoi. A day after the operation, both patient and kidney donor are in a good condition.

This has the first living-unrelated kidney transplant in 2017 and the 19th kidney transplant at Saint Paul Hospital since it conducted the first kidney transplant in 2013. By now, the hospital has fully mastered the kidney transplant techniques, and that kind of operation has become one of its ordinary professional activities.

A day after the operation, both patient and kidney donor are in a good condition.

The patient was Cao Ba Th., aged 28, resident of Thanh Hoa province while the kidney donor was Nguyen Trung Tuan A., aged 26, resident of Hai Duong.

In 2015, Th. was diagnosed with chronic renal failure level 2 and was designated to transplant his kidney. After months of research and preparation, Th. decided to undergo the transplant operation at Saint Paul Hospital.

On January 3rd, the living-unrelated kidney transplant was conducted with the participation of 30 doctors and nurses under the direction of Doctor Nguyen Dinh Hung, Director of Saint Paul Hospital.

After 3 hours, the transplant was successful.

The success in organ transplants has marked a turning point in hospital’s policy to develop hi-tech therapies, contributing to promote the medical treatment quality of Hanoi.

Thanks to hi-tech therapies, local patients with serious illnesses can be well treated while they can save their time and money.
