PSNews - Four ships carrying officers, soldiers, journalists and Tet gifts departed the Naval Region 4 on the afternoon of January 6th (Cam Ranh Bay, Khanh Hoa province) for the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.

The mission was joined by 105 journalists from press agencies and newspapers nationwide who are expected to reflect lives of islanders and troops.

The ships also carry newly-assigned troops to different Spratly islands. Most of them are very young. Some will work on islands for the first time and others have married. Although they will be far away from their families during the upcoming lunar New Year festival (Tet), they all show their resolve to successfully fulfill their assigned tasks.

The four ships will visit and handed gifts from the mainland to people and troops on the 21 islands and 33 islets of the Truong Sa district. Meanwhile, the voyage is a good opportunity for reporters and correspondents to reaffirm the historical and legal grounds asserting Vietnam's sovereignty over the Truong Sa archipelago, Hoang Sa archipelago, the national exclusive economic zone, continental shelf, and other sea and island areas.

A number of organizations and individuals have taken this chance to send Tet gifts to Truong Sa people and soldiers. The Ministry of Defense, Vietnam People’s Navy, the Brigade 146, and the people of Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces have presented various kinds of goods used for Tet, such as sticky rice, vegetables and sausages.
