Special Olympics of Vietnamese folk games to be held in Hanoi

PSNEws - The UNESCO Centre for International Cultural Exchange and Preservation (ICEP - Hanoi Classy) in collaboration with San Dinh (Communal House Ground) Group and Toi Xe Dich ( I'm Moving) Group hold the first Olympics of Vietnamese folk games in Trinh Cong Son pedestrian street on August 25.

This community and non-profit project aims to preserve and promote Vietnamese folk games, therefore making it an annual festival on every August 18.

The elimination round with 4 competing folk games, namely Mandarin Square Capturing, Pitching Pennies, Walking on Stilts and Bag Jumping at the event.

On the day of the launch of the 2018 Folk Games Olympiad in Hanoi, a ceremony to announce the recognition of the project "Day of Vietnamese folk games" by UNESCO will also be held.

The Vietnamese Folk Games Olympics 2018 is the first Olympic Games in Vietnam, will be held in large scale with many unique and innovative activities. At the event, visitors can participate in various folk games under new rules.

This program is expected to spread the unique cultural values of Vietnamese folk games to the society, tighten bonds of the community and Vietnamese families, and contribute to develop necessary skills for young people.
