The decision was made after he saw a number of local students and people dying of drowning.

Vu said that Cam Tan is a mountainous commune and local people face lots of difficulties. Local students have to go to schools by boats or on floating bridges.

Many tragic drowning incidents occur every year because local students and people are not good at swimming. Vu’s sister also died of drowning. Therefore, he decided to build a swimming pool and teach children how to swim although he had financial problems..

After his house was built in August 2017, Vu started to build a swimming pool.

After the pool was licensed by the local authority, Vu contacted primary and secondary schools in the district to offer free swimming training to poor students. Since 2019, Vu has trained over 200 students in swimming as well as basic skills to avoid drowning.

Particularly, the swimming team of Quy Loc Secondary School, where Vu works, won 6 prizes, including 4 first prizes, at the Thanh Hoa Swimming Contest 2020.
