PSNews - Unlike most of normal schools where pupils sing the National Anthem at the opening ceremony of a new school year, pupils at the Lam Dong School for Hearing Impaired sing the Vietnamese National Anthem by hand in the sign language for people with hearing and speech impaired.

Along with 320,000 students of Lam Dong province, students and teachers of the Lam Dong School for Hearing Impaired held a special ceremony to start their 2018-2019 academic year  on September 5.

During the ceremony of the Lam Dong School for Hearing Impaired this morning, there was an "interpreter" who helped translated speeches of teachers and guests into the sign languages for the school’s impaired students.

Another special thing at the opening ceremony was that the students sang the National Anthem by hand, in the sign language used by people with hearing and speech impaired.

On the occasion of the new school year, the Lam Dong School for Hearing and Speech Impaired in collaboration with donors presented gifts to every student, encouraging them exert all-out effort to achieve good academic results.

After 40 years of establishment and development, the Lam Dong School for Hearing and Speech Impaired has now been considered a prestigious educational institution for hearing-impaired students, helping them easily communicate and integrate into the community.

In the 2018-2019 academic year, the school has 15 classes with over 120 students, ranging from the kindergarten grade to the 7th.

In addition to learning the official subjects in the special language, senior students at the school are also provided with vocational training such as baking, sewing and embroidering.

To improve the effectiveness of vocational training, the school has recruited many highly qualified teachers who graduated from Pedagogical University major in economics and techniques.
