PSNews - From early afternoon of February 11 (i.e. the 7th day of the Lunar New Year), thousands of people flocked to the Vieng Market in Nam Dinh Province to join the once-in-a-year fair.

This year’s Vieng Market officially opened on the midnight of February 11 (i.e. the 7th day of the Lunar New Year) in Kim Thai Commune, Vu Ban District, Nam Dinh Province.

However, from the afternoon, thousands of people from all over the country had come to the market, making it chock-a-block.

Lines of audiences were moving slowly past all the selling booths. Every visitor wanted to buy something at the market hoping that it could bring happiness and good luck to their family throughout the new year.

Among thousands of items on sale at the Vieng Market, the 5 items that most visitors wanted to get were bonsai trees, household utensils or working tools, old-aged things, old cash and coins, and beef.

The Vieng Market has for years been considered a place to "buy luck” and “sell misfortune" and pray for a prosperous and lucky new year. That’s why there is no bargain here

The booths selling household utensils and farming tools often attract most audience as traditional farmers believe that buying farming tools such as rakes, sickles or hoes would help bring a bumper crop.
