Twins born in COVID-19 quarantine zone in Quang Ninh

PSNews – A woman who just returned to Vietnam from oversea has given birth to healthy twins in a quarantine zone for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) at the Quang Ninh Maternity Hospital.

The Quang Ninh Maternity Hospital on April 8 performed a special C-section inside its quarantine zone on a 37-week pregnant woman diagnosed with twins.

A day earlier, the pregnant woman appeared abdominal pain and was hospitalized. The hospital was informed that she had just returned home from a COVID-19 epidemic affected area and she was about to give birth.

The hospital prepared an isolation room with full equipment and a medical team to perform a C-section on the women.

On April 8, the woman successfully gave birth to 2 twin babies weighing 2.8 kg and 2.6 kg after 20 minutes of surgery.

According to Dr. Tran Thi Minh Ly, Deputy Director of the QuangNinhMarternity Hospital, the pregnant woman had  some signs of COVID-19 so the hospital had to strictly implement the regulations of the Ministry of Health on the prevention of COVID-19 during the delivery.

At the moment, the health of both mother and twins is in a stable condition. They will remain at the quarantine zone for 14 days.
