Unexploded bomb removed in Nghe An

An intact bomb was found 2m deep underground when a family was building a new home in Vinh city, Nghe An.

Functional forces successfully removed the bomb, according to the provincial military command of Nghe An.  

Earlier, workers at a construction site in Ben Thuy ward, Vinh city, found a bomb and reported to the authorities. 

After receiving the information from the workers, a military engineering unit from the provincial military command quickly moved to the scene and isolated the area. The bomb was then defused and moved to a safe area for detonation.

The bomb had 41 cm in diameter and 1.2 m in length, and weighed some 115 kg. The bomb was said to be dropped by the U.S. Air Force. During the war, Ben Thuy suffered numerous U.S. air strikes.
