Unexploded bomb weighing 340kg found in Hanoi successfully defused

PSNews - The unexploded bomb weighing about 340kg found at a construction site on Cua Bac street in Hanoi city was successfully defused in Northern province of Bac Giang.

According to Chairman of the Ba Dinh District People Committee Ta Nam Chien, the bomb has been safely detonated in at a military area in Bac Giang Province on the morning of November 30 under the direction of the Ministry of Defense.

The bomb which was 40cm in diameter and 125cm in length was found six meters underground by workers at a construction site for the headquarters of the Power Transmission Corporation at No 15 Cua Bac Street on October 28.

As soon as the bomb was reported to authorities, traffic in the area was restricted and soldiers from Hanoi’s Military High Command arrived at the site to inspect it. They then decided to remove the bomb from the site on October 29’s night.

Authorities cordoned off parts of Cua Bac, Pho Duc Chinh, Pham Hong Thai, and Nguyen Truong To streets in Truc Bach Ward, Ba Dinh District to remove the bomb. They also banned the use of mobile phones and walkie-talkies for safety reason.
