Vietnam Journalists’ Association holds patriotic emulation congress

The event saw the presence of Mr. Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communications and Education.

Speaking at the congress, Mr. Thuan Huu, member of the PCC, Editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communications and Education and Chairman of the VJA stressed that, the congress affirmed the development of patriotic emulation movements and rewards through the 2015-2020 period.

He also said that, the congress was an opportunity to honor outstanding examples in the patriotic emulation movement of the VJA during the past tenure.

Mr. Thuan Huu noted that, over the past time, the patriotic emulation and reward movements among member organizations of the VJA recorded positive transformation, thus creating a driving force for press workers around the country to strive to fulfil their tasks.

Over the past time, the VJA has made great contributions to national liberation and development. Its correspondents have bravely covered stories firsthand from battle fields and are continuing their tireless efforts to report news, photos and footage daily.

On this occasion, the VJA also awarded Certificates of Merit to 22 organizations and 17 individuals for their outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement during the 2015-2020 period.

Within the framework of the congress, the delegates also donated money in support for people in central provinces that were heavily affected by storms and flooding, with a total amount of nearly 48 billion VND.
