Vietnam determines to successfully build smart city

“Smart city construction is an inevitable trend in the development process” – this is the opinion of speakers, researchers, strategy planners attended at the seminar “Internet of Things and Smart Cities’’ (IoT & Smart City).

This is one of four contents were discussed at the Information Technology and Communications High-Level Forum 2016 (Vietnam ICT Summit 2016) held on September 24th in Hanoi. Currently, the smart city is agreed to follow international standards.

According to Mr. Nguyen Nhat Quang, Director of the Institute of Science and Technology VINASA, besides applying international standards, Vietnam needs to develop synchronously the infrastructure of smart city and the legal infrastructure to operate them.

Dr. Nguyen Ai Viet, former Director of the Institute of Information Technology, Vietnam National University said: Vietnam might not build successfully smart city if we separated the work of technology and interdisciplinary collaboration.

On the one hand, we have to research carefully the standard of a smart city in the world and put into the standards of Vietnam, following with public announcement to let citizen aware of the form of smart city.
