Two more “Made-in-Vietnam” SARS-CoV-2 test kits that meet international standards were introduced in Hanoi on June 5.
The two test kits meet international standards.

These test kits, One-step RT-PCR COVID-19 Kit THAI DUONG and RT-LAMP COVID-19 Kit THAI DUONG, were developed by Vietnamese scientists from the National Institute for Control of Vaccine and Biologicals, and Hanoi University of Science and Technology and produced by the SUNSTAR Joint-Stock Company.

The advantage of the One-step RT-PCR test kit is that it can eliminate 30-40 percent of the risk of false negative results caused during the sample-taking process. Meanwhile, the RT-LAMP test kit gives quick and accurate results that are useful for expanded testing.

These two test kits have been widely used in Europe and listed in the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Emergency Use Listing. The Vietnamese Ministry of Heath approved the circulation of these above-mentioned test kits on May 7.

At the announcement ceremony, 1.000 test kits, worth USD 42,000 in total, were presented to the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.

Earlier, in April, the UK Department of Health and Social Care has granted the CE mark and the Certificate of Free Sale (CFS) for the made-in-Vietnam COVID-19 test kit, produced by the Military Medical Academy and Viet A Company.
