Vietnam's largest twin-body speedboat launched in Hai Phong

The modern ship is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2019 to transport passengers between Vung Tau city and Con Dao Island of the southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, as well as between Tran De Port of the southern province of Soc Trang and Con Dao Island.

The twin-body speedboat measures 46.85m in length and 12.2m in width and can carry up to 598 passengers. The vessel meets QCVN 54: 2013 / BGTVT (national standards for decentralization and shipbuilding of high speed ships, limited level I).

The vessel is equipped with 4 Roll-Royce MTU 12V4000M53 engines with a total capacity of 7404 horsepower, and can run at a maximum speed of 35 nautical miles per hour.

With the newly-launched speedboat, it will take only three hours (half of the current travelling time) to go between Vung Tau and Con Dao. Particularly, the vessel’s operation is considered very stable and safe while the facilities for passengers are special and convenient.

Reportedly, two more large speedboats like the Con Dao Express 36 will be launched in the first quarter of 2019.
