The patient, named 0.0. (67), was found completely losing consciousness on February 17 when he was taken to the Vietnam-France Hospital.

The doctors diagnosed him as having a complex heart disease, involving type-A aortic dissection, that could kill him at any time. They decided to immediately made an online consultation call to Associate Professor Nguyen Huu Uoc, head of the Cardiothoracic Department under the Vietnam-Germany Hospital.

After the consultation, the patient was quickly transferred from the Vietnam-France Hospital to the Vietnam-Germany Hospital, and after only 2 hours doctors of the Vietnam-Germany Hospital started an operation on him.

Dr. Vu Ngoc Tu, a key member of the surgical crew, said he and his colleagues had successfully performed the most difficult and complex heart surgery in his 10–year career. While Associate Professor Nguyen Huu Uoc, head of the surgery team, said the surgery that took more than 10 hours required much energy and sophisticated techniques.

At present, the patient is recovering. 0.0.’s family also arrived in Vietnam to take care of him and extended  their thanks and showed their admirations to the Vietnamese doctors.
