Vietnamese naval ship leaves for LIMA 2019, Myanmar visit

The Vietnamese delegation, led by Colonel Nguyen Cong Son, Deputy Political Commissar of the Naval Region 4, will visit Myanmar after the event. 

In Malaysia, the HQ 012-Ly Thai To will participate in activities of the LIMA 2019, including a ship display and maritime demonstration in Langkawi and a manoeuvre on the Straits of Malacca.

The Vietnamese delegation will also attend a cuisine and cultural festival.

The LIMA is the largest show of its kind within the Asia Pacific region. Held biennially since its debut in 1991, LIMA introduces applications and technologies in military and civil affairs and trade within the maritime and aerospace industries.

The 14th edition of the event in 2017 attracted 555 exhibitors of 36 countries and territories, including Russia, France, Australia, the UK and the US.

In Myanmar, the ship is scheduled to visit to Tanintharyi port in Mergui province. 

The delegation will meet with the Mergui authorities, the Tanintharyi Region High Command and the Myanmar Navy. They will join a sport exchange programme with naval soldiers of the Taninyharyi Region High Command. 

During the visits, the HQ 012-Ly Thai To will carry out its duties of long distance sea voyage training, sea patrol and revisions to arms and equipment to improve command and combat readiness.
