Minister of Public Security welcomed National Security Adviser of Philippines

HANOI - Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security on September 29 received Mr. Hermogenes Esperon, National Security Adviser of Philippines, accompanying president Rodrigo Duterte in his official visit to Vietnam.

On behalf of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, Minister To Lam congratulated Mr. Hermogenes Esperon on his appointment as National Security Adviser of the Republic of the Philippines.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam spoke highly of the security cooperation between the two countries by sharing the views on the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region, and ensuring security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation, in accordance with international law.

Besides, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the law enforcement agencies of Philippines in recent years has made a very positive step in bilateral and multilateral cooperation, he added.

In order to strengthen the cooperation between the two sides, Minister To Lam also stressed, Vietnam and the Philippines should strengthen the exchange of information and experience on the prevention of transnational crimes such as human trafficking, and criminal use of high-tech.

Mr. Hermogenes Esperon, National Security Adviser of Philippines, for his part, affirmed that he would do his best to strengthen strategic partnerships between Vietnam and Philippines in general, cooperation between Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Philippine authorities in particular.

He expressed his confidence that, Vietnam and Philippines will work together to combat people smuggling and other forms of crime in order to ensure security in each country and in the region.
