Acting President greets former Mozambican President

Vietnam always attaches importance to its relations with Mozambique, and considers the country a priority cooperation partner of Vietnam in Africa, Acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh told former President of Mozambique Armando Emilio Guebuza.

During a reception for Armando Emilio Guebuza in Hanoi on September 28, Acting President Thinh thanked the guest for coming to the State funeral of President Tran Dai Quang, and also conveyed sincere thanks to the State and people of Mozambique for assigning the former President to Vietnam to pay tribute to Quang, who passed away on September 21.
She affirmed that this is vivid evidence for the close and strong relations between Vietnam and Mozambique for over the last 40 years.She congratulated the Mozambican people on new achievements in the national construction and economic development in recent years, affirming that Vietnam appreciated the role and position of Mozambique in Southern Africa in particular and in Africa in general.
Acting President Thinh wishes Mozambique successful local elections in October, which will be the premise for the successful organisation of the presidential and parliamentary elections in 2019, saying that the success of elections will be important for the Mozambique people to achieve greater achievements in the future.
She also thanked Mozambique for supporting Vietnam’s candidacy as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenures, and suggested the two countries continue to closely cooperate and support each other in multilateral forums.
She called on the Mozambican Government to continue creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live and do business in the country, towards tightening the friendship between the two nations’ people.
The Acting President also suggested the two sides maintain the exchange of delegations, especially those at high levels, in the time to come, saying that Vietnam looks forward to welcoming Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi to visit the Southeast Asian country.
For his part, Armando Emilio Guebuza extended deep condolences from President Filipe Nyusi and Mozambican people to the State and people of Vietnams, and praised the contributions made by the Vietnamese President to the Mozambique-Vietnam relationship.
He said he believes that the State and people of Vietnam will soon overcome this difficult time and continue achieving greater achievements in the national construction and development.
