Association works to strengthen Vietnam-RoK solidarity, friendship

The Vietnam-Republic of Korea (RoK) Friendship Association of the central coastal province of Quang Nam convened its second congress for the 2017-2022 tenure in Tam Ky district on December 16.

Phan Thai Binh, deputy head of the provincial National Assembly delegation, was elected Chairman of the association in the new tenure.

Between 2017 and 2022, the association will continue promoting communications, especially among youngsters, about the friendship between the two countries as well as the achievements of Vietnam in the “doi moi” (reform) period.

It will continue introducing Quang Nam land, people and culture to Korean friends and coordinating with local relevant agencies to support non-governmental organisaitons from the RoK to operate in the province.

At the same time, the association will actively calls for investment and economic cooperation between Quang Nam and Korean localities.

The association strives to establish at least two new chapters in enterprises, schools, localities and sectors having direct relations with the RoK. 

Since 2003, the association has collaborated with non-governmental organisations and universities of the RoK to build schools, grant scholarships, and provide free medical check-ups and treatment for poor people along with building roads and clean water supply facilities with a total cost of around VND21 billion (US$921,900).
