Blood Donor Day – 2016 Kind Heart Festival

PSNews - The Blood Donation Day “Festival of Kind Hearts”2016 kicks off in Hanoi on November 13.

The event was organized by the Vietnam Red Cross Society, Vietnam’s National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and  Prudential Vietnam to ease the shortage of blood for emergency and treatment during the year-end period. The Festival was held to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Doan Van Thai, Vice President, Secretary General of the Vietnam Red Cross Society said it was an annual activity of the Society and Prudential within the framework of the Voluntary Blood Donation Programme.

The event was organized in Hanoi

This year’s blood donation day is held from November 6th to December 20th in Hanoi and other 16 provinces and cities nationwide, aiming to collect some 7,000 units of blood. To date, the programme has been organized in Quang Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Thanh Hoa and Kien Giang, and about 2,100 units of blood have been donated.

In Hanoi, some 750 volunteers from 25 blood donor clubs participated in the Festival. Organizers expect to receive 400 blood units at the festival.

On the same day, a similar event was held in Hue with the participation of over 600 students of various faculties of Hue University. 500 units of blood were collected, and supplemented to blood banks for the treatment of poor patients.

In addition to blood donation mobilization as a co-organizer of the Blood Donation Day, Prudential Vietnam has organized various meaningful activities since 2014. These include free checkups and treatment, and public health care for people in 50 provinces in Vietnam.
