Cambodia-Vietnam friendship to be fostered

President of the National Assembly of Cambodia Samdech Heng Samrin said he is pleased with the progress of bilateral friendship and cooperation as it has brought practical benefits to the two countries.

He made the statement at a reception in Phnom Penh on October 27 for Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s Ho Chi Minh City chapter Do Trung Tin.

Tin is on Cambodia visit from October 26-29. 

Heng Samrin, who is also Chairman of the United Front for National Salvation, thanked the Vietnamese Party, State, government and people for their support to Cambodian people over the past years.

He said he believes that young generations will continue fostering the tradition of solidarity and mutual support for the sake of independence, freedom and peace of each country. 

The Vietnamese delegation later held a working session with Governor of Phnom Penh Paso Cheatvong. 

Both sides discussed a draft memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the VFF’s Ho Chi Minh City chapter and the United Front for National Salvation of Cambodia. 

The delegation later held a working visit to the General Association of Vietnamese Cambodians to present financial aid to Vietnamese language teachers for 2016-2017.
