Deputy PM attend ‘Safe Meals” program

PSNews-“Safe Meals” is a program organized by the Municipal People’s Committee of Hanoi with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and some 1,000 residents of Cau Giay district, Hanoi.

The program is organized with a view to raising awareness and responsibility of the community, households and individuals about using safe food to protect their health and promote their living quality.

Of the program will be participated in by 5 parties: the State, scientists, the press, businesses and consumers, in order to supervise and identify unsafe foods and stuffs, and support competent agencies in overcoming difficulties in food safety management, seek effective solutions to the food safety situation, and control the quality of food from its origin.

More than 200 facilities in Hanoi engaged in food producing, processing, slaughtering and trading have so far joined the program. They are outstanding facilities and businesses in applying new scientific and technological advancement to cultivation and breeding as well as modern technologies to food processing, food producing and animal slaughtering. Accordingly, all agricultural products will be attached with sufficient information on the quantity, price, quality, origins and more so that customers can check before purchasing.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam highly valued the initiatives and measures to encourage, facilitate and promote clean and safe business and production of food and foodstuffs. The Deputy PM stressed: “We not only say no to unsafe food, but also condemn and strongly punish the production of dirty and unsafe foods, which harm the community’s health in exchange of their own profits. Each person, unit, enterprise, locality and the whole country should take very practical and specific actions to ensure food hygiene and safety.”

The “Safe Meals” program is being piloted from 2017 to 2020.
