Foreign Ministry reports on murder of Vietnamese citizen in RoK

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ spokeswoman, citing the information from the Vietnam Embassy in the RoK, said that the victim named Bui Cat Ha was murdered by her farther-in-law in Seoul’s Seongbuk district.

Immediately after the incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs instructed the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK to urgently work with the Korean authorities to verify the related information.
According to the Vietnam Embassy in the RoK, the suspect has been arrested.
The Vietnam Embassy has supported the victim’s family and issued a death certificate to the victim and a permit for her ashes to enter Vietnam, Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang added.
The embassy is closely following the case proceeding to ensure justice to be executed against the rightful criminal with his/her rightful charges, and protect legal rights and interests of the Vietnamese citizen.
On June 27, the Korea Times reported that the RoK’s police arrested an 83-year-old man for the murder of his Vietnamese daughter-in-law. The murder happened at around 4am on June 2 (local time) in an apartment in Northern Seoul.
