These associations issued a joint statement expressing support to the ruling on the East Sea by the PCA in The Hague, Netherlands on 12th July. The statement was: “According the ruling on the East Sea by the PCA in The Hague, China has no legal reason for claiming “the historic right” over the area delimited by the so-called “U-shape” (or nine dash-line) in the East Sea. Strongly condemning to the actions and claims against the international law, it is stressed that all related parties, especially China and the international community, have to undertake and act on the provisions of international law such as United Nations Convention on Law of the Sea in 1982 (UNCLOS), the Declaration on the Conduct of parties on the South China Sea (DOC). These associations also called for the peaceful settlement on the sovereignty and territorial disputes, negotiations in line with international law, not use or threat to use of force and fully respect to the PCA’s ruling.
