Lawmakers to convene for ninth session of 14th legislature

National Assembly (NA) deputies are set to participate in the ninth session of the 14th legislature with plenary meetings scheduled to take place from June 8-18 at the NA building located in Hanoi.

The plenary session of the sitting is scheduled to be broadcast live on national television and radio channels, along with the NA television channel.

Throughout the plenary session, it is expected that NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan will brief lawmakers on the outcomes of online meetings held between May 20 and May 29.

In line with the meetings, legislators are scheduled to approve three resolutions aimed at ratifying the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), and the International Labour Organisation’s Abolition of Forced Labour Convention, known as Convention 105.

Representatives of embassies from EU countries based in Hanoi are expected in be in attendance for sessions relating to the EVFTA and the EVIPA.

Moreover, the morning of June 8 will see deputies vote on a draft resolution relating to the recognition and enforcement of rulings issued by dispute settlement agencies in line with the EVIPA.

Following this, in the afternoon session groups will discuss a report on socio-economic development, the State budget, the approval of the State budget balance, a national target scheme to boost socio-economic development in ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas during the 2021 to 2030 period..
