Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports flood victims in Northwestern provinces

PSNews - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 10 organized a fundraising to support the people, affected by floods and storms in Northwestern provinces with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

The fundraising reflected the tradition of mutual support and friendship of the Vietnamese people.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, leaders and all officials of the ministry decided to donate at least one working day’s pay to support the flood victims to overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives.

The recent floods have caused severe damages to the people of the Northwestern provinces of Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Son La and Lai Chau.

According to statistics from the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, the recent floods have left 37 people dead or missing, 25 injured while destroyed 231 houses.

The intense floods also blew away over 25,000 cubic metres of national roads, 117,706 cubic metres of provincial and district roads; damaged 145 irrigation works and 2,072 metres of river dike.

Leaders and all officials of the ministry donate at least one working day’s pay to support the flood victims to overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives.

Up to now, the total loss caused by floods in the Northwestern provinces has reached about 940 billion VND.

Against this backdrop, the government, ministries, branches and organizations at all level have sought to assist the affected localities and people.
