The High Command of Naval Region 3 should enhance close coordination with relevant forces to protect maritime sovereignty and security as well as Vietnamese fishermen.

The statement was made by Vice-Chairman of National Assembly (NA) Do Ba Ty, during his working session with the High Command of Naval Region 3, on April 11, in the central city of Da Nang.

Addressing the working session, the NA Vice-Chairman asked the Naval Region 3 to promote the implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution No.3 on several tasks of marine economic development, contributing to making Vietnam a strong country by the sea.

The region should co-ordinate with the police, border guard and coast guard forces as well as the units under the Military Zone 5 to protect security on the sea; prevent and control flood and storm; implement rescue work; ensure the safety of fishing grounds and fishermen, he added.

NA Vice-Chairman Ty also emphasised that the High Command of the Naval Region 3 needs to proactively coordinate with local government in developing the economy in association with maintaining defence and security.

In addition, it is essential to pay much attention to rear work and foreign affairs in the military field as well as enhance the experience exchange with naval forces of other countries in the region, he noted.

Over the recent years, the High Command of Naval Region 3 has gained outstanding achievements in ensuring the marine security and safety; preventing and fighting against crimes, drugs, smuggling, trade fraud and human trafficking on the sea.
