The 10th Cambodia – Laos – Vietnam Summit on Development Triangle Area (CLV-10), which took place in Hanoi on March 31, has opened up a new chapter for the trio’s cooperation.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the statement at an international press conference the same day, co-chaired by the Prime Ministers of the three nations.

He quoted a World Bank leader as describing Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam as three trees making a huge mountain, adding the three PMs have worked together to build on the trio’s traditions and nurture their future cooperation.

Affirming the role and position of the development triangle area, PM Phuc highlighted the continuous improvement in terms of infrastructure, business environment, and people’s living standards seen in the area over the past 18 years, adding that the outcomes have proven the efforts of the three nations.

The CLV Governments have paid attention to promoting infrastructure, transport connection, vocational training, people-to-people exchange, and e-government, the Vietnamese leader stressed.

The CLV leaders will continue boosting multi-faceted cooperation, thus opening up a new cooperation space not only among three nations, but also within ASEAN.

An action plan for the development triangle area connection will be developed, making the area an indispensable part of ASEAN.

The CLV leaders have signed the Joint Declaration on the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Development Triangle Area cooperation, affirming the three countries’ determination to build a CLV of sustainable and inclusive development. The trio will jointly organise practical activities to mark the 20th anniversary of the area in Laos in 2019.

With their responsibilities, efforts and determination, the three nations will fulfill all goals reached during the summit, PM Phuc affirmed.

Right after the press conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Cambodian counterpart witnessed the signing of an agreement on double taxation avoidance and tax evasion prevention, and the minutes of the chairman-level meeting of the two countries’ joint border committee.
