PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc to attend the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit

Prime Minister Phuc and his delegation would be in India during 24-26 January 2018. He will be an honoured guest for the banquet hosted by the President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, followed by a Retreat of all Heads of State and Government of ASEAN Member States with our Prime Minister.
There will be a Plenary Session of the Commemorative Summit followed by a gala dinner hosted by Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi.

On 26 January 2018, the Republic Day of India, Prime Minister Phuc, along with other leaders, will be the Guest of Honour at our Republic Day Parade and will be present at an “At Home” hosted by the President of India.
The Embassy of India in Vietnam also affirmed that, Prime Minister Phuc and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also have bilateral delegation level talks and India expect signing of important agreements to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries including in important areas such as cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space and atomic energy.
In particular, India look forward to the signing of the Implementing Arrangement between the Indian Space Research Organisation and the National Remote Sensing Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam for the Establishment of Tracking and Data Reception Station and Data Processing Facility in Vietnam under the ASEAN-India Space Cooperation Programme.
Bilateral trade between the two countries, according to Indian data, has crossed the US$10 billion mark and both countries remain committed to work to achieve the target set by our leaders of US$15 billion by the year 2020. Vietnam is the fourth largest trading partner of India among ASEAN countries and India is among the top ten trading partners of Vietnam.
The visit of Prime Minister Phuc would be the fifth meeting between the two Prime Ministers since Prime Minister Modi’s Official Visit to Vietnam in September 2016 and their meetings at the G20 Summit in Hamburg and the ASEAN Summits in Vientiane and Manila, according to the Embassy of India in Vietnam. It will provide an opportunity to the two leaders to review the entire gamut of bilateral relations and further lay out the roadmap for strengthening our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
