Party leader underlines importance of parliamentary cooperation with China

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has stressed the cooperation between the National People’s Congress of China (NPCC) and the National Assembly of Vietnam is crucial for the consolidation of mutual understanding and political trust between the two nations.

He made the statement while meeting with Chairman of the NPCC Standing Committee Zhang Dejiang at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on January 13 as part of his official visit to China.

He briefed his host on the outcomes of his talks with Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, reiterating that promoting the healthy and stable development of the countries’ friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership is in line with the basic and long-term interests of the two peoples while benefiting regional and global peace, stability and development.

The Vietnamese Party leader asked the NPCC and the Vietnamese National Assembly to enhance exchanging legislative experience and supervising and speeding up their respective Governments’ realization of the common perceptions and agreements reached between the countries’ senior leaders.

Both sides should boost coordination and mutual support at regional and global inter-parliamentary forums, and work hand in hand to ensure the execution of international treaties to which both countries are parties for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Zhang congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic development achievements last year and wished it more development in the coming time.

He also hailed  the progress in the countries’ relations and cooperation between the two parliaments, stressing that the Chinese Party, Government and NPCC treasure and want to continually strengthen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Vietnam.

They want both sides to well control and deal with existing disagreements and determinedly not let those affect the overall sound relationship between the two Parties and nations.

Zhang noted his NPCC is well cognizant of its responsibility for contributing to the healthy and positive development of bilateral ties. It will certainly coordinate more closely with the Vietnamese National Assembly, work harder to augment cooperation, and create the optimal conditions for Vietnamese and Chinese businesses and people to intensify exchanges and economic partnership, thereby helping to enhance the two peoples’ political trust and amity.
