The personnel work must be well prepared from all-level Party congresses in order to facilitate the 13th National Party Congress, said Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong on March 19.

The top leader made the request while addressing a meeting of the sub-committee in charge of the personnel affairs for the upcoming National Party Congress in Hanoi.

The meeting also saw the participation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong, head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission Pham Minh Chinh, and head of the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission Tran Cam Tu.

The delegates heard a report reviewing personnel matters of the 12th Party Central Committee and orientations for the work for the next tenure.

Trong, who is also head of the sub-committee, lauded joint efforts in preparing reports and proposals presented at the meeting, describing them as the foundation for the building of personnel orientations for the 13th National Party Congress.

The 12th plenum of the 12th Party Central Committee, slated for May, will debate personnel orientations for the upcoming congress, he said, stressing that this is one of the two most crucial matters of each congress.

According to the leader, relevant draft documents have been sent to grassroots Party organisations for feedback.

“The personnel work must be considered a task of special significance and a key one as it relates to the survival of the Party and the regime,” he emphasised, ordering each agency, locality and official engaging in preparations to be fully aware of their responsibility.

The personnel affairs of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo and the Secretariat require a strict, scientific and consistent process in order to ensure democracy, fairness, purity and objectivity, Trong said.

The leader asked members of the sub-committee and its supporting group to seriously observe working principles, saying the group needs to closely coordinate with the Organisation Commission to collect feedback of the sub-committee and complete the report to submit it to the Politburo.
