President Quang departs Hanoi for Cuba visit

On November 14, President Tran Dai Quang left Hanoi for an official visit to Cuba from November 15-17 at the invitation of President of the Cuban Council of State and Council of Ministers Raul Castro.

Vietnam-Cuba ties have seen positive development inmultitude of fields since the two nations set up diplomatic ties in December 1960.

They have maintained all-level visits and cooperation mechanisms of the Intergovernmental Committees, theoretical workshops between the two Parties, political consultation between the two ministries of Foreign Affairs and security-defence dialogues.

Economic-trade and investment cooperation has obtained satisfactory results, with annual two-way trade reaching roughly US$200 million.

Cuba sticks importance to all-around relations with Vietnam , especially in agriculture, construction, education, health, biotechnology, transport, and sports.

Enterprises from both nation are working hand in hand to intensify investments in tourism infrastructure, consumer products and construction materials in Cuba .

Vietnamese businesses are muscling their way into Cuba, while the Cuban is calling on Vietnamese firms to invest in oil and gas projects, industry, tourism, and prioritised fields in the Mariel Special Development Zone.

The two countries have also offer mutual support at international organisations and multilateral forums.

Following his Cuba visit, President Tran Dai Quang is due to attend the 24th High-level Week of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in Lima , Peru  from November 17-20, at the invitation of Peruvian President Pedro Paplo Kuczynsky.
