President Tran Dai Quang meets ABAC Vietnam leaders

PSNews - President Tran Dai Quang on September 29 had a meeting with the APEC Business Advisory Council in Vietnam (ABAC Vietnam).

The event saw the participation of Mr. Dao Viet Trung, Member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Presidential Office; Mr. Vu Tien Loc, President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Chairman of the upcoming APEC CEO Summit; and representatives of the APEC 2017 National Secretariat.

At the event, ABAC Vietnam and VCCI leaders briefed the President on the ABAC Vietnam’s task performance and results in 2017 as well as the APEC business community's recommendations to leaders of APEC economies.

President Tran Dai Quang receiving ABAC’s report and 20 recommendations, which will be submitted to the APEC Summit Week’s events. 

President Tran Dai Quang agreed with recommendations from the APEC business community, especially the ideas to promote liberalization and facilitation of trade, investment and services and; ensure connectivity, inclusive, sustainable and innovative growth; and support micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises as well as those run by women.

The President also spoke highly of the recommendations on improving the quality of human resources, promoting the digital economy and seizing opportunities from the fourth industrial revolution to promote socio-economic development.

President Tran Dai Quang recognized the close coordination of ABAC Vietnam, VCCI, the APEC 2017 National Secretariat and relevant ministries, agencies with the business community in successfully holding business events and activities over the past time; and their active preparation for upcoming APEC 2017 events and activities.

Emphasizing the APEC Year 2017 as a focus of Vietnam’s external activities, President Quang urged ABAC Vietnam and VCCI to work closely with the APEC 2017 National Secretariat and the relevant units to prepare good agendas for business events and activities during the High-Level Week.

They all were also asked to join efforts to attract more leaders of APEC member economies and representatives of international organizations, leading economic groups, as well as domestic businesses and localities nationwide to the CEO Summit 2017 and the APEC Business Summit.

The president also stressed the need to intensify communications work on the APEC Year 2017 internationally so as to contribute to promoting the country and people to international friends.

On behalf of leaders of the APEC member economies, President Tran Dai Quang received ABAC’s report and 20 recommendations, which will be submitted to the APEC Summit Week’s events.
