Prime Minister requests clarification on fish sauces' quality

The Government Office has just announced the document on Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s direction related to information about the quality of fish sauces on October 22.

At the proposal of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers and a number of associations, societies in the petition dated October 20 on the handling and prevention of acts causing damage to traditional fish sauce industry of Vietnam, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has the guidance as follows:

PM asks the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health to immediate publish official information to the people about the type and standard arsenic level of fish sauce as well as other necessary information related, to avoid confusion among the public.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with relevant agencies asked to consider the observance of laws in the process of bringing the information of quality of fish sauces in the mass-media of the Vietnam Standard and Consumers Association (VINASTAS), strictly handle violations (if any).

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information and Communications has to inspect and strictly handle violations of regulations on press activities for the above case.

The Prime Minister also asked ministries and relevant agencies to report to the government before 10 November.
