Senior leaders send sympathy to Indonesia over airplane crash

On October 30, Vietnamese senior leaders extended messages of sympathy to Indonesian leaders over the recent tragic airplane crash of budget carrier Lion Air into the sea off Indonesia’s island of Java.

- Indonesian plane with 189 on board crashes after take-off from Jakarta
Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent messages of sympathy to Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan showed her sympathy to Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly Zulkifli Hasan.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh also expressed condolences to Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.
