Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister and Co-ordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean on March 23 visited the central province of Thua Thien-Hue as part of his ongoing official visit to Vietnam.

Secretary of the Party Committee of Thua Thien-Hue Le Truong Luu welcomed the Singaporean Deputy PM, briefing him on the local socio-economic situation, as well as cooperation between the locality and Singapore.

Currently, Thua Thien-Hue is hosting four Singaporean-funded projects, including a 2 billion USD Laguna Hue resort invested by Banyan Tree in Chan May-Lang Co economic zone, he noted.

Luu said that Thua Thien-Hue and Singapore’s Akitek Tenggara have once cooperated in tourism planning development. A large number of Thua Thien-Hue students are studying in Singapore, he added.

The provincial leader expressed his hope that in the future, Singapore will continue supporting the province by encouraging its businesses to seek investment opportunities in the locality, while strengthening education and personnel training collaboration with the province.

Thua Thien-Hue wishes to work with Singapore in tourism promotion and developing tourism products, he stated.

For his part, the Singaporean Deputy PM said that this is the first time he has visited Hue, expressing his impression at Hue city which is home to many beautiful landscapes as well as historical and cultural relics.

He noted that Hue is becoming increasingly attractive to tourists from Singapore and other countries. He said he hopes that through the visit, the cooperation between Singapore and Thua Thien-Hue will be enhanced.

During their stay in Hue, Teo and the Singaporean delegation visited the UNESCO-recognised World Cultural Relic Site of Hue ancient citadel relic complex, and a number of historical and cultural relic sites in the province.
