Support effective use of ASEAN cooperation funds with partners

The representative of ASEAN Secretariat introduced ASEAN cooperation funds and cooperation programs between ASEAN and its partner. He said, projects go through 3 phases: Reviewing the ASEAN Secretariat, Approving
ASEAN Specialized Agencies, Finally approving Permanent Representatives Committee. There are more than 70 funds and cooperation programs within ASEAN and between ASEAN and its partners.
The funds and the cooperation programs have played an important role in promoting ASEAN cooperation as well as ASEAN and its partners. These funds have enhanced connectivity, narrowed the development gap and responded to common challenges.
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung assessed that, the cooperation between Vietnamese ministries, branches, localities and ASEAN funds and cooperation programme have been increasingly active.

These agencies have proposed and implemented initiatives, projects in ASEAN and ASEAN plus, but the ASEAN funds and cooperation programmes, ASEAN and its Vietnamese partners have gained not much benefits.
In the years to come, ministries, branches, localities will proactively exploit these funds to get more resources and represent the active and important participation of Vietnam in ASEAN.
At the seminar, ASEAN General Secretary Le Luong Minh also pointed out, ASEAN cooperation projects have to comply with principles of ASEAN Chapter and solve complications in its own regional level including the outside-country issues because it will be more effective to resolve at this level. These projects with the full participation of member states would bring benefits to the ASEAN.
