Vietnam, Brunei boost cooperation

General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, on February 19 received Major General Dato Pakuda Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defense and Chairman of the National Security Committee of Brunei Darussalam.

The reception also saw the presence of Senior General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

On behalf of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), Minister To Lam emphasized that Vietnamese Party and Government leaders highly appreciated the outcomes of the recent working visit of the MPS's high-ranking delegation to Brunei. The MPS leader also expressed his deep gratitude to the Second Minister of Defense and members of the Brunei Darussalam National Security Committee for their warm welcome during his visit.

In order to enhance the comprehensive partnership and relationship between the Vietnamese MPS and the Brunei National Security Committee in the coming time,Minister To Lam suggested the two sides to promote exchange and sharing of information on crimes and other traditional and non-traditional security issues, as well as promote cooperation in preventing and fighting transnational crimes. Minister Lam also suggested that the two sides should soon organize the first meeting of Vietnam - Brunei Joint Working Group on politics and security.

Minister Yussof thanked Minister Lam for the warm welcome and noted that the visit of Minister To Lam to Brunei contributed significantly to strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.

The Bruneian Minister believed that the relationship between both sides will thrive in all spheres.
