Vietnam-China friendship association holds Congress

The Vietnam – China Friendship Association in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho held its Congress for the 2018 – 2023 tenure on May 11.

During 2013-2017, the association actively, flexibly, creatively and effectively worked on external relations, contributing to fostering friendship between Can Tho and Chinese localities. 

It held exchanges with Chinese working delegations, organised seminars on developing multi-sectoral cooperation, promoted tourism and launched a number of economic and cultural projects. 
The Vietnam – China Friendship Association in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho held its Congress for the 2018 – 2023 tenure on May 11.


Via meetings with Vietnamese and Chinese patriotic personalities and the Vietnam – China people’s forum, both peoples have chances to raise mutual understanding, thereby contributing to peace, stability, friendship and development. 

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Truong Quang Hoai Nam said Vietnam – China ties have grown actively over the past years with regular meetings and common consensus on strengthening political trust.

He expressed his wish that the association will actively work with the municipal departments and agencies to call for Chinese investment, urge the Chinese Consulate General to support exchange activities and increase the association’s membership. 

Participants agreed to continue improving its working capacity and external activities while raising public awareness of the Party and State policies and expanding networking. 

This year, the association will disseminate the progress of Vietnam – China ties, propose twinning between schools in Can Tho and China, organise tours to promote trade and tourism. 

On the occasion, the Congress elected an eight-member executive board for the 2018-2023 tenure. 

Ngo Quoc Tuan, General Director of the A Chau Trade JSC, was re-elected as Chairman of the association for the new tenure.
