Vietnam Government and UN sign One Strategic Plan 2017-2021

PSNews-The One Strategic Plan 2017-2021 (OSP) has just been inked by the Government of Vietnam and the United Nations (UN) at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Investment and Planning.

Minister of Investment and Planning Nguyen Chi Dung and Mr. Kamal Malhotra - UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam signed the new OSP 2017-2021 between the Government of Vietnam and 18 UN agencies, including FAO, ILO, IOM, ITC, IAEA, UNAIDS, UNCTAD, UNDP, UNEP, UNESCO, UNFPA, UN-Habitat, UNICEF, UNIDO, UNODC, UNV, UN Women and WHO.

The OSP 2017-2021 will give priority to 4 key areas, which have been determined based on the central themes of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including human, planet, prosperity and peace.

The OSP 2017-2021 continues to facilitate the partnership between the UN, the Government, private sector partners, development partners, organizations and legitimate non-governmental organizations.

Minister Dung affirmed that the UN plays an important role in assisting Vietnam in promoting its development, integration and active participation in international affairs by providing policy advice and assistance to the Government of Vietnam, sharing with Vietnam's experience with other developing countries, as well as professional experiences with the country in developing a green and sustainable economy and maintaining a balance between economic and social development.

The signing of the One Strategic Plan 2017-2021 took place on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the Vietnam’s UN membership.
