Vietnam attaches great importance to developing relations with EU

Deputy Minister Thanh expressed his delight at the fine developments in the multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and the European Union after nearly 28 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Especially, the two parties have concluded the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations and are implementing the Framework Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation(PCA). With the efforts of the two sides, the FTA is expected to be officially signed and come in effect in 2018 to bring bilateral economic and trade cooperation to a new height.
In terms of security and law enforcement, Vietnam and the EU have joined various practical cooperation activities, particular cooperation on wildlife protection, human right protection and combat against illegal migration.
Deputy Minister Thanh hoped that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and EU’s related agencies would continue to strengthen law enforcement cooperation, especially in crime prevention and control, contributing to promoting the bilateral relations between the two sides.
Mr.Gunnar Wiegand stressed that the cooperation between Vietnam and the EU saw positive developments in various areas, including economics, trade and investment, politics, diplomacy and security.
He also wished the two sides to further strive to bring the bilateral relations to a new high level in the future.
