Vietnam backs India’s Act East policy

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has expressed Vietnam's support for India’s Act East policy and pledges to promote bilateral friendship with the South Asian nation.

At a reception on October 4 in Hanoi for the visiting Indian Chairman of Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba, the Vietnamese government leader said as a close friend of India and a coordinating country in ASEAN-India relations, Vietnam supports India’s strengthened cooperation in East Asia and its permanent membership to the expanded UN Security Council. 

He also thanked India for assisting Vietnam in national defence over the past years and expressed his wish to further boost economic, trade and investment ties with India and welcome more Indian investors to do business in Vietnam. 

Lanba in turn praised traditional friendship and cooperation with Vietnam, saying that his nation will continue to further bilateral cooperation in multiple fields.  

India always values the friendship and partnership with Vietnam and regards Vietnam as the biggest friend in ASEAN, he added.

Indian Chairman of Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba is on an official visit to Vietnam from October 3-8.
