Vietnam always place importance on win-win cooperation with Chinese localities, including Chongqing, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh while receiving Tang Liangzhi, Mayor of China's Chongqing province in Hanoi on August 31.

At the reception, Deputy PM Minh hailed the mayor’s visit and collaboration with Vietnamese agencies in launching diverse activities for trade promotion and transport connection.

Congratulating Chongqing on its recent socio-economic achievements, Minh suggested the Chinese province strengthen friendship exchanges and share experience in socio-economic development with Vietnamese localities while helping Vietnam upgrade its border infrastructure and bolster its import of Vietnamese products in a bid to expand bilateral trade towards balance and sustainability.

He underlined the need for both sides to enhance transport connectivity and adopt measures to increase rail transport of cargo from Vietnam to Eurasian countries via China.

The two sides need to intensify people-to-people exchange, especially between youths, and  step up cooperation in culture, education, and tourism, thereby providing a foundation for Vietnam-China friendship, Minh suggested.

In reply, Tang Liangzhi affirmed his province’s recognition of great importance to cooperation with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities.

The Chinese guest also assured Chongqing province’s willingness to further push up friendship exchange, trade-economics-investment, and transport infrastructure connectivity as a contribution to the development of the two nations’ comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
