Vietnam looks to broader cooperation with Saudi Arabia

Vietnam and Saudi Arabia should bolster cooperation in a wide array of fields such as trade, labour, and investment, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the suggestion while receiving new Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Vietnam Saud F.M Al Suwelim in Hanoi on September 10.

PM said he hopes that the ambassador will make positive contributions to the fine relationship between the two nations as well as boosting effective coordination with relevant agencies to help fully tap their bilateral cooperation potential.

He suggested the two sides offer mutual support at multilateral forums while highlighting 2020 as an important year for both countries when Vietnam assumes the role of ASEAN Chair and Saudi Arabia holds the G20 Presidency.

In reply, the Saudi Arabian ambassador said his nation places great importance on the relations with Vietnam, adding that his primary task during the working tenure in Vietnam will focus on fostering bilateral cooperation in multiple fields, including trade and investment.

The ambassador told his host that he had worked with a number of Vietnamese ministries and departments in a bid to seek stronger cooperation in health care and trade.

The diplomat also stated that Saudi Arabia has an open market, thereby giving a good chance to businesses to enhance trade and investment partnership in the time ahead.
