Vietnam ready to contribute to 2018 Shangri-La Dialogue

Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh hosted a reception in Hanoi on May 9 for Tim Huxley, Executive Director of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS)–Asia in Singapore.

Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh has affirmed Vietnam’s willingness to support and make positive contributions to the forthcoming 2018 Shangri-La Dialogue.

Vinh told his guest that Vietnam greatly values the role played by the Shangri-La Dialogue as well as topics for discussion at this year’s event.

For his part, Tim Huxley asked Vietnam to dispatch a high-ranking military delegation to the 2018 Shangri-La Dialogue and give a speech at the event set to take place in June in Singapore.

He also hailed Vietnam’s role and support for the annual security dialogue in Asia for years.
