Vietnam urges parties to not complicate current situation in East Sea

PSNews - At a regular press conference held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 14, Spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang reiterated Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos.

At the conference, answering reporters’ queries about Chinese navy surveillance aircraft KJ-500 and KQ-200’ flying over Da Chu Thap (Fiery Cross Reef) of Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago, she affirmed that Vietnam has sufficient historical evidence and legal basis to assert its sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

“All activities of parties in these two archipelagos without the permission of Vietnam are null and void”, the spokeswoman affirmed.

Amid the current regional and international context, Vietnam urges parties to not take any action to further complicate the situation in the East Sea, said Spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang.
