The visit seeks to enhance maritime cooperation between the Indian Navy and the Vietnam People’s Navy and will further bolster the strong bonds of friendship between the two countries and contribute to security and stability in this vital part of the world.

As part of ongoing celebrations to commemorate the 45th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Vietnam, the 10th anniversary of establishment of Strategic Partnership and 25th anniversary of India-ASEAN  relations, two Indian Naval Ships INS SATPURA and INS KADMATT made a port call at Hai Phong, Vietnam from 23-27 Sep.  INS SATPURA is commanded by Captain Rahul Shankar and INS KADMATT is commanded by Commander Nitin Cariappa.

During the visit, the Indian Navy ships will have professional interaction with the Vietnam People’s Navy towards further enhancing co-operation between the two forces. In addition, calls on senior Government and military authorities, sporting and cultural interactions and sharing of best practices, aimed at strengthening ties and mutual understanding between the two Navies is also planned.

A Maritime Industry Business Meeting is being organised on the sidelines of the ship visit on 25 Sep 2017 in cooperation with Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hai Phong.

Strong participation from both Vietnamese and Indian maritime and naval industries is expected.  Upon completion of the stay in harbour, the two Navies shall participate in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) aimed at enhancing interoperability in communication as well as Search and Rescue procedures.
