8th Vietnam – Laos security cooperation conference held in Laos

PSNews - The 8th Vietnam - Laos security cooperation conference took place on June 29-30, in Vientiane, Laos.

This conference is a part of activities in celebration of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries (September 5, 1962-2017) and the 40th anniversary of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty on Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - 2017).

At the conference, the two sides exchanged views and discussed international and regional situations such as plots and activities of hostile forces, transnational crimes; security of areas along the Vietnam - Laos border; 

cooperation results obtained by public security forces of the two countries as well as the implementation of agreements signed in the 7th Vietnam – Laos security cooperation conference.

The two sides also discussed measures to improve the effectiveness of cooperation activities, especially in border management, immigration management and personnel training, so as to ensure national security of each country and build an ASEAN Community of peace, stability and development.

During this working visit, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam and the Vietnamese delegation of the General Department of Public Security paid a courtesy visit to the Lao Minister of Security.

At the meeting, the Lao Minister of Security highly appreciated the outcomes of bilateral cooperation between public security forces of the two countries over the past years.

He hoped that in the coming time, public security forces of the two countries will closely collaborate with each other to reach better outcomes, contributing to ensuring national security, social order and safety of Vietnam and Laos.

Additionally, the public security forces of Vietnam and Laos should strictly implement guidelines of Party and the State leaders of the two countries as well as ensure the absolute security and safety for events of the Solidarity Year of Vietnam and Laos.
